Jessica Atherton Wilson,  RYT 500
What once started as a way to calm my mind and relax my body has become a part of my daily
life.  I have been a practicing yogini since 2000.  Yoga found me at a time when my body and
mind needed it the most.  Since then, it has become a transformative force with each breath
and pose that I practice, teaching me something new about myself while I am on my mat.  I
strive, as a teacher, to provide a fun and safe space for that transformation to occur within each
of my students.

I began teaching in 2001, and have since completed multiple teacher trainings in an ever
expanding desire to learn all that I can about the practice of yoga.  I completed my RYT 200 in
July of 2003, and my RYT 500 in January of 2005.  I recently completed a year long training
with Robert Boustany in his method, deepening my knowledge of anatomy, kinetics, posture
sequencing, and energy movement.

I have been blessed with amazing teachers and gurus along the way, providing a light on the
path I have wandered.  I began my yoga studies in 2000 with Ashtanga and Power Yoga.  Since
then, I have practiced Bikram, Iyengar, general Hatha, Jivamukti, Forrest, Baptiste, and BYoga
styles.  I incorporate parts of each style into my classes as I strive to share the aspects that
touched and helped me the most with my students.  Through my personal journey I hope to
find ways to open muscles, heal injuries, and face challenges that allow me to aid others.

Yoga is a journey not only on your mat, but within yourself.  The postures provide a means by
which you become present in the moment, connected with your breath, and aware of whom you
are.  I have found that being able to hold a difficult posture, while maintaining focus and
breath, is a lesson not only on our mats, but in our lives as well.  We learn to breathe through
difficulty, remain present, and feel what it is life has to offer each and every one of us.  I strive
to provide a safe space for each student to explore, to heal, to challenge boundaries, to smile
and laugh, to learn who they are and how to love themselves.  As I continue to grow as a
student of yoga, I hope to be able to share my knowledge with others as a teacher.
